Meet the Staff


Ken Young

Senior Pastor

Having been a founding member of IBC since 1984, Pastor Ken has served as a pastor in IBC since 1993. Having completed his B.S. in Theology from Baptist Bible College in Missouri, his M.A. from Louisiana Baptist University, he is currently working on his PhD in theology, also from LBU. Pastor Ken is committed to biblical doctrine from God’s Word and loves preaching through the Word in an expository method. Ken’s wife, Jennifer has always been an active, vital part of the ministry, currently serving in children’s ministry roles.


Michael Huffman

Assistant Pastor

Pastor Michael serves the congregation in the ministry role of Care and Counselling. He is a member of the Association of Biblical Counsellors as a qualified Biblical Counsellor and teacher. He and his wife, Genia, have an active role in Evangelism, Discipleship and Leadership Training for the cause of Christ. Genia also serves as a Chaplin with the NZ Department of Corrections in the ladies prison ministry. They have served with IBC since 2007.


Josh Huffman

Youth Leader

Josh has been serving as our Church Youth Director for the past 4 years. He and his wife, Denise, mentor our teenagers in growing their faith in the Lord. Helping young people find their relationship with God is something that has been a passion in his heart for a long time. Josh was serving first as an apprentice in Youth Group while studying his Bachelors of Education. He later was felt called by God to continue serving in Church and took upon the role of Youth Director. Every Friday night at Youth Group and Sunday mornings, students will be challenged in the word of God to live for and obey Christ.


Gillian Randall

Gillian is very much a local, with her family living in the area for generations. She became a believer and joined IBC (Howick Bible Baptist Church) in 1991 coming on staff in 1997, responsible for office and financial services. She is married, a mother and grandmother, who loves God, loves her family, loves her church, as well as enjoying a number of crafts when possible. She desires to serve the Lord however He leads - “not my will, but thy will be done.”


Mono Penewi

Mono has attended IBC since 1995 and joined the administration staff in September 2008. Growing up, she was quite involved in the Polynesian community in South Auckland, she is of Tahitian and Cook Island descent. Mono is married, thoroughly enjoys being a mum and is grateful to see God working in her family, church, and community. Her desire is to be used by God in His work in “Transforming Lives”.
